An early 20th century Qashgai carpet from Fars in south west Persia.
This is the only Qashgai we have seen that combines the characteristic geometric motifs with curvilinear elements - an unusual and charming combination.
Dark blue field with triple pole medallion in light red flanked by two pale blue medallions; ivory spandrels; all over flowers and foliage; wide pink main border of medallions; ivory and pale blue guards.
Overall even wear, slight corrosion in places, small inset patch to lower end centre, a few crease marks, slight loss to ends.
Thin, soft handle. Underlay recommended.
This is an attractive antique carpet.
