A mid 20th century Hamadan rug from north west Persia.
A strong design with well matched colours and slight abrash that lightens the overall effect.
Dark crimson field with three stepped medallions in an unusual mauve; pops of dark turquoise; filler ornaments of medallions, flowerheads and stylised flowering plants; narrow dark blue spandrels; dark blue rosettes in main border.
Very slight wear in places. Robust handle.
