A 1940s-1950s carpet from Abadeh in southwest Persia.
Light red field with dark brown centre medallion and spandrels.
Horsehead columns to each side and what look to us like Eeyore figures in the centre. Also a number of small birds.
Ivory floral main border. Pretty pinks and glowing reds with fading to pink at one end. Pops of pale blue, green and peach.
This is a glorious, exuberant piece in very good condition.
