A 1930s Fars rug from the Shiraz region in south west Persia.
Terracotta field with large dark blue centre medallion featuring the Quash'gai emblem; many small ornaments in the field; ivory trailing floral main border; narrow guards and a band of diagonal leaves at each end. Stripy selvedges. Dark and light wool in fringes.
Small crease mark to left selvedge and slight loss to lower end. Fabric tape to each end on the verso. Overall even pile. The fringes have been left at variable length but can be neatened up if desired.
