A lovely little mid 20th century Baluchi prayer rug from north east Afghanistan.
The mihrab with a centre tree of life motif flanked by two small columns. Apricot main border of flowerheads and X arrowhead motifs. The classic rich, warm and harmonious colours as found in the best Baluch rugs.
Narrow striped flatweave ends and corded edges - both intact.
Minor loss to fringes but overall good condition with lustrous wool.
It is rare to find a really good rug like this as a relatively modern production. Measurements include the long fringes.
