A Chichi rug from the Kuba region, northeast Caucasus ca 1900.
Dark red field with alternate horizontal rows of four octagon and hooked motifs with various filler ornaments; ivory inner guard with star motif; dark blue main border of diagonal lozenge and rosette motifs; pale blue guards; medachyl secondary guards and other narrow stripes.
Overall even wear with slight loss to ends. Fabric strip both ends verso.
