A mid 20th century Kashan rug from north central Persia. Great court carpets were woven in Kashan but virtually ceased after the Afghan invasion in 1722.
This rug is from the workshops that were revived in the twentieth century and uses the traditional intricate floral medallions and motifs.
A finely woven piece with close-cropped soft feeling pile.
