An early 20th century colourful Turkish runner with a bold and free design.
Some fraying to ends and wear in central section but otherwise in reasonable condition with a soft handle.
Tape sewn on the verso indicates this rug was first bought from Chamberlain King and Jones. This was a firm of upholsterers, carpet factors and cabinetmakers that operated in Birmingham between the 1890s and 1950s. It is likely that the rug was then in a single family household until we bought it this year.
