A 1920s-1930s Kurdish rug from northwest Persia. The two linked diamond motifs on the dark blue ground are surrounded by chicken and tree motifs. Harmonious pink, green and amber details provide plenty of opportunity to coordinate with cushions or other furniture.
Thin pile with overall even wear, some corrosion to dark browns, lower outer guard rewoven. Someone has loved this rug enough to do small spots of repiling and although the colours are not identical, they blend in nicely to the overall design.
