An Afshar rug from the Kerman area in SW Persia, 1920s-1930s.
An intricate pattern of dense motifs with eight pointed stars and other small details on an Ivory field. The borders are largely geometric but still flowing and it is amusing to see how the weaver has varied the dimensions to fit the shorter ends. Lovely, glossy goat hair fringes. This is a pleasing and genuinely antique rug.
Overall wear, slight loss to ends and frayed selvedges. Thin pile.
