An exceptionally pretty early 20th century Afshar rug from the Kerman area in south east Persia.
Pink combines with a vivid lapis blue and a profusion of boteh and floral motifs in pops of additional colour across the rug. The stripy selvedges are characteristic of Afshar work. A mix of dark and light wool in the fringes.
The rug is thin with heavy wear in central section and corrosion to dark browns. We have done some colour restoration work to bring the pattern back more consistently.
A crease mark to lower end; slight loss to ends.
Underlay recommended.
