A 1940s Baluch sofreh from north Afghanistan, woven as a tablecloth to be set on the floor of a tent.

Worked in pile and sumak technique. Central medallion outlined in ivory and terracotta with striped spandrels on a red ground. Inner border of stars repeated in a band at each end. Outer border of medallions within running dog guards.

Small spots of wear in places but overall good condition. Rare almost square size.
