A charming, rare, early 20th century Baluch rug from north eastern Persia or western Afghanistan.

Rather than the more common red and black dyes, this rug has a chocolate brown field with motifs in coral/apricot and white.  The two columns of guls have smaller guls between, some of which feature charming stylised birds (possibly peacocks).

The rug is of all wool construction, finely knotted and characteristically thin and floppy.  The quadruple corded selvedges and the fringed ends are almost entirely intact - rare for a rug of this age.

Altogether a fine antique for the discerning eye.
